Budget Friendly Ways to Get Your Home Ready to Sell this Summer

Category Seller Information

With summer around the corner now is the perfect time to spruce up your home, to be ready for sale in the sunny summer months. You may feel your home is perfect and any buyer would be lucky to spend their days in any corner of your haven but remember you may be biased to a few areas that a potential buyer may count as a negative and use to negotiate a lower selling price.

1. Make minor repairs
Fix leaky taps and doors that don't close properly, and kitchen drawers that jam. Consider painting your walls neutral colours, especially if they're currently a bright colour. Don't give buyers any reason to remember your home only by one wall colour. Replace burned-out light bulbs, to make your home as bright as possible. Light is very important to potential buyers, especially natural light, so open up those curtains and let the light in.

2. Go the extra step next time you clean
Buyers need to see the home in its best possible condition. If you add a few extra minutes over the days that you tidy up, it might mean the difference between a great offer or a slow-selling process. Declutter a few possessions that you've forgotten are even there, make sure there isn't any mould in the bathrooms and maybe pour some drain cleaner in your sink for minor blockages. Think about the last time your outside windows were cleaned and make them a priority one Saturday morning in the sun.

3. Make the exterior of the house the most appealing
When a buyer rolls up to your house, the first thing they will see is the exterior. They may immediately form their first impression and it needs to be a positive one to give the rest of the house a chance. A tidy up of your flower bed, trimming your trees and
mowing your grass helps give your home a respectable edge. If the paint is peeling off in places, consider repainting the outside, to give your home a fresh and clean feel from the first moment buyers see it.

In today's buyers' market, any effort you put in will help you seal the deal on a great price for your home.
