Selecting the Right Agent

Category Seller Information

When it comes to purchasing property, you should ensure to select the right agent to guide and assist you through the purchasing process. Below are guidelines to assist you in the process of selecting your area specialist:

  • Firstly, ensure that the agent you select to represent you is qualified.
  • All estate agents must be registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board, a regulating body for estate agents to control agent activities in the public interest.
  • In addition, the agent should be in possession of a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate in order to legally trade.
  • Establish whether you are dealing with a full status agent or an intern. An intern will require the assistance of a full status agent in order to provide their services.
  • It is always advised to deal with an area specialist, therefore it is important to establish how long the agent has been operational in the area and what their track record entails.
  • Ensure to establish the intended marketing plan. This will determine what marketing platforms your property is advertised on and ensure that your property exposure is maximized.

Ultimately you and your agent should have the same objective, namely to sell your property as fast a possible for the best possible price.
